Brow Lamination: Everything You Need to Know Before Booking

Brow lamination has become one of the most requested salon treatments of recent years. Here is what it does, how long it lasts, and whether your brows are good candidates.

Brow Lamination: Everything You Need to Know Before Booking

Brow lamination emerged from Eastern European beauty practices and became a global phenomenon when the brushed-up, fluffy brow look took over social media around 2020. The treatment restructures the brow hairs using a chemical process similar to a hair perm, allowing them to be set in a new direction that creates the appearance of fuller, more defined brows.

What the Treatment Involves

The process uses two chemical solutions applied to the brows in sequence. The first softens the disulfide bonds in the hair shaft, making the hairs pliable. While the brows are soft, they are brushed into the desired position, typically straight up and across, then set with a neutralizing solution that reforms the bonds in the new configuration. A nourishing oil is applied to condition the hairs after the chemical process.

The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes. Results last six to eight weeks depending on natural hair growth cycles and aftercare compliance.

Candidacy and Aftercare

Brow lamination works best on naturally full brows with sparse areas or unruly direction. Very thin brows benefit less because the treatment enhances and redirects existing hair rather than creating it. The treatment is not recommended for very sensitive skin, those with eczema near the brows, or anyone who has recently used strong retinoids in the area.

Aftercare involves avoiding water on the brows for 24 to 48 hours after treatment, applying a conditioning oil daily, and sleeping on a smooth pillowcase to prevent disruption of the set shape.
